Biographical Information: Bill passed quietly after long cardiac illness. He was raised by his late stepmother Marie Andree. His mother died shortly after he was born. He only knew Marie as his mother. Bill had lived in the Monticello, Indiana community since 1978. He was a 1950 graduate of Rensselaer High School in Rensselaer, Indiana, and went onto graduate in 1954 from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana with a degree in Journalism. While attending Butler University, Bill was an officer and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He worked at the former Indianapolis News while attending the university. Bill attained the rank of Major in the United States Air Force. He had worked at the Monticello Herald Journal Newspaper in Monticello from 1978 until the time he retired in 1996. Bill Started as a columnist, reporter and retired as the managing editor. He had also worked at 3M, and Trans Union in Chicago, Illinois, where he worked at the corporate personnel level. He was an AVID English Bulldog breeder, and was an AKC Judge of the English Bulldog. Bill traveled from coast to coast judging for thirty (30) years. He was involved for over sixty (60 years with various Bulldog Clubs within the United States. His dad and mom where also Judges for the AKC. Bill was a member and officer of the Illiana Bulldog club in Crown Point, Indiana. He had served as president of the club. He also served as vice president of the Bulldog Club of Indiana. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #81 of Monticello, Indiana. George W. (Bill) Andree quietly passed away 11 July after a long cardiac illness. He was born in Rensselaer, Indiana, the son of George and Edith (nee Miller) Andree on 27 May 1932. His birth mother died while Bill was in his infancy. His father remarried to Marie I. Johnson when Bill was 2 years old, and Marie was in effect the only mother Bill ever knew. He grew up in Rensselaer attending and graduating from Rensselaer High School in 1950. He furthered his education at Butler University in Indianapolis, graduating in 1954 with a BA degree in Journalism. While at Butler he was enrolled in the ROTC program and along with his degree, he was commissioned a second Lieutenant in the Air Force. He spent the next 14 years on active duty with the Air Force attaining the rank of major. After leaving the Air Force in 1968, he was employed the next 10 years in human resources with 3M and Trans Union Corporations. In 1978 he returned to a Journalism Career and moved to Monticello and a position with the Monticello Herald Journal. Starting as a reporter, he became the managing editor before he retired in 1996. His avocation was breeding, raising, judging and writing about English Bulldogs. His interest in the breed spanned over 60 years and continued for his entire lifetime. He was a member of several Bulldog clubs and was President of the Illiana Bulldog Club and VP of the Bulldog Club of Indiana. He was respected as an authority on the Bulldog. He is preceded in death by his father, birth Mother and step-mother. His survivors include: Robert G (Linda) Andree (brother), Robert G (Jamie) Andree, Jr. (nephew), Scott Andree, (nephew), and Anne (Bruce) Jung (niece) along with several cousins. He will be cremated and the remains interred at a private ceremony at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer in the grave site of his mother and father. In lieu of visitation and a funeral at this time, there will be a memorial service held at a date to be announced.
