He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Red Men Lodge, Men's Auxiliary of the V.F.W Post, and the Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 F. & A.M., all of Monticello, Indiana. The Colonel was famous for telling everyone that he met, "I have never had a bad day in my life", he loved to meet new people and one could say that he never knew a stranger. He brought smiles to all who he visited with especially the younger children as he enjoyed telling them, "did you know I speak in a different language", "$25 - $35 - dollar money bid now $45, sold to the little girl for $45 dollars!" Colonel Bob was an accomplished Real Estate Broker since 1965 and Auctioneer since 1948, and former State Judge for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. He also worked for Bryan Manufacturing, ALCOA, Essex Wire, and the Ryder Furniture Company. He was the owner and operator of the Harrison Auto Sales and Harrison Auction House formerly of Norway. Colonel Bob started Harrison Realty and Auctions after attended the Reppert School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Indiana. He was later joined in the family business by grandson, Ryan Harrison and daughter-in-law, Violet Harrison. Although the Colonel had many different careers, auctioneering was certainly his passion. Colonel Bob enjoyed making auction tapes for his friends and surprising them with one in the mail, where every time the recipient was the high bidder!
