Burial will take place: In the Chalmers Cemetery located just south of Chalmers, Indiana. Full Military Rites by the Honor Guard of the American Legion, VFW, and AmVets Post, all of Monticello, Indiana, assisted by the Chalmers American Legion Post #268 of Chalmers, Indiana.
Visitation will be: 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Miller - Roscka Funeral of Monticello, Indiana.
Biographical Information: Herb resided in the Monticello area farming since 1961, coming from the Rensselaer, Indiana community. He attended elementary school in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1953. Herb attended two years at Purdue University in Aeronautical Engineering. He was an airline mechanic and worked at the Chicago O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Herb was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving his country four (4)years, while stationed in Alaska. He was a fifty (50) year member of both the Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 and the Crystal Chapter #165 O.E.S (Order of the Eastern Star) both of Monticello, Indiana and the York Rite in Rensselaer, Indiana. Herb served on the White County Co-Op Board for twenty (20) years. He also served as a Precinct Committeeman for thirty (30) years for the GOP. Herb was very active in his church serving on numerous boards as a member of the Chalmers Community Church in Chalmers, Indiana. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #81 of Monticello, and helped out at the Chalmers American Legion Post often. Herb enjoyed fishing and golfing. He loved family activities, church softball games, and target shooting.
Special Services: Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home.
Memorial Information: May be given to the Chalmers Community Church or to Camp Tecumseh. Envelopes will be available at Miller - Roscka Funeral Home.
Marriage Information: On December 13, 1959 in Chalmers, Indiana he married Carol Lee Kelly. She survives.
