Biographical Information: Ruth was a graduate of Hammond High School of Hammond, Indiana, also of Bryant Stratton Business College of Chicago, Illinois, where she studied to be an Executive Secretary and Steno typist. Ruth and her late husband, William "Bill" helped start the First Baptist Church in Monticello, Indiana. She taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School for twenty (20) years, and Adult Sunday School for ten (10) years. Ruth was also in the choir and served on the Advisory Board at the First Baptist Church of Monticello, Indiana. She was a member of the Monticello Christian Church. Ruth was involved in the Prayer Group, Bible Study, and served as a deaconess at the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello, Indiana. She loved her plants and working with her computer. Ruth and her late husband, William "Bill", owned and operated the former Frosty Mug Drive Inn, which later became the Tree House Restaurant from 1954 to 1990. Ruth had lived in Hammond, Indiana, Monticello, Indiana, and wintered in Leesburg, Florida. She was a Prayer Warrior. Ruth had many friends and always took an interest in their lives and well being. She cherished her family, and her beloved dog, Peanut.

Memorial Information: Memorials may be given to the Memorial Garden of the Monticello Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the chruch.
Marriage Information: On June 17, 1950, in Crown Point, Indiana, she married William R. "Bill" Kretchmar. He died Sunday, May 21, 2006.
