Visitation will be: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home iof Monticello, Indiana, and one one prior to the services on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, 409 N. Beach Drive, Monticello, Indiana 47960.
Biographical Information: Joe worked at the old RCA Factory here in Monticello, Indiana for thirty-six (36) years, and volunteered at the White County Food Pantry for over twenty-five (25) years. He was a former member of the VFW, the American Legion Post, both of Monticello, Indiana. Joe was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge (where he was a "Golden Eagle"), and the F.O.P. (Fraternal Order of Police), all of Monticello, Indiana. He loved traveling, included sites such as Hawaii and the Caribbean. Joe loved flowers of all kinds, his family, and especially playing with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren ( He was very family oriented). He had a special love for Holidays, more especially Christmas, and the Forth of July. You could find him sitting out on his swing, and enjoying the great outdoors most generally all of the time. Joe loved life! *** In Celebration of his work and love for the food pantry, please bring a non-perishable item in his honor to the funeral home or to the church.***
Special Services: Full military rites by the Honor Guard of the American Legion, VFW, and AmVets Posts, all of Monticello, Indiana will be conducted at the cemetery.
Memorial Information: In Lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the White County Food Pantry, envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and the church.
Marriage Information: On January, 17, 1942 at the former Monticello Christian Church on Bluff Street in Monticello, Indiana, he married Doris M. Swartz. She died September 11, 1982.
