Biographical Information: Betty was a 1941 graduate of the the Boswell High School and was valedictorian of her class. She was the first meter maid for the Monticello Police Department. Betty had worked at the Monticello City Clerks office for several years. She had waited tables at the old Conrad's Sportsman Inn for many years as a part-time job. Betty retired as the Office Manager at the Hubbards GM Center working there for 16 years. Betty was always very active in the Methodist Church in Monticello and was in the Mary Martha Circle at the church. She was a member of the Francesville Order of Eastern Star. Betty loved sewing and cooking. She was an excellent seamstress. Betty would host many family get togethers with all of her wonderful cooking. James and Betty were crowned King and Queen at the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center in 2009. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grand mother.

Memorial Information: May be given to the Indiana United Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 747, Lebanon, IN 46052, or to the Monticello United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at funeral home and the church.
Marriage Information: On November 21, 1941 in Pine Village, Indiana she married James Smiley. He survives.
