Biographical Information: Don grew up attending the former Eastlawn United Methodist Church of Idaville, Indiana. After eight years at Carson School in Carroll County, Indiana, Don graduated in 1956 from Roosevelt High School of Monticello, Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University in 1960. During his two years in the United States Army, he served at the Induction Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Don then graduated from the A.C. Nielson Marketing Research School of Evanston, Illinois. He then returned to Tennessee in the mid 1960s and was a founding business partner of the Decorators Workroom in Nashville, Tennessee, which expanded into on the largest wholesale Drapery House in the mid-south. In the 1970s a retail division, the Drapery House, was founded. In addition to Nashville, Tennessee, retail locations were in Columbia, Dickson, and Manchester, Tennessee. Also in the 1970s, in association with the AERO Drapery Company, Don traveled extensively lecturing and giving design clinics. In the 1980s an additional retail division, the Fabric Outlet at Drapery House, was opened. Don retired after more than forty-five years in business, hotels, politicians, religious organizations, as well as private homeowners. He especially enjoyed working in the past with many beloved country music personalities.
