Biographical Information: Rick was raised and grew up on his parents and grandparents farm in rural Royal Center, Indiana, and was a 1970 graduate of Pioneer High School of Royal Center, Indiana. He raised animals while on the farm and was a ten year 4-H member. Rick passed the love of 4-H onto his four children who all went on to be ten year 4-H members themselves and won many awards with their Grand Champion rabbits. He met the love of his life Bev Baker at the age of seventeen in Buffalo, Indiana, and they started their growing family. If you thought Rick’s kids were everything to him, you should have heard him brag about his grandkids. He NEVER EVER missed any activities or practices (always being there early, even before the players would show up) his grandkids were in. Rick was the BIGGEST fan of his family! His kids and grandkids enjoyed many vacations together, family time was very important to him. Rick was a diesel mechanic for many years and was often asked to fix something that nobody else could fix. He was employed by the North White School Corporation Transportation Department of Monon, Indiana, for the last several years and was very proud of his school buses perfect inspection record. In his spare time, Rick built two homes by himself. The most recent being an amazing two-story log home on beautiful Lake Shafer in Monticello, Indiana, constructing from the ground up. Having finished that , he added a two-story playhouse, a tree house, zip line, volleyball court, and boat dock. His main goal of building the two-story home was so family and friends could gather often. A few of Rick’s other enjoyments in life were fishing, mushroom hunting, bird watching, any other outdoor activity, going to the movies (especially enjoying comedies), and was the official “family photographer”, and volleyball referee. Rick never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand when it was needed.
