Biographical Information: Jim was born in Renssealer, Indiana, and was raised in Monticello, Indiana, where he enjoyed many fond memories with family growing up on Lake Shafer. He was a 1966 graduate of Twin Lakes High School of Monticello, Indiana, and then went on to graduate from the former St. Joseph College of Rensselaer, Indiana, with a degree in Psychology. Jim worked at the State Hospital of Logansport, Indiana, working as a vocational therapist until 1981. Then in 1981, he went into business with his dad, Hank, at the former Hoover and Associates of Monticello, Indiana, and worked there until he retired on December 31, 2014, which was the year Hoover and Associates celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. Jim loved going to his children’s and grandchildren’s events, coaching girls softball, camping with his kids, gardening (growing his tomatoes), and had a “Love/Hate” relationship with the Chicago Bears Football team, Chicago Cubs Baseball team, Indiana University Basketball team, and Notre Dame University Football team. He enjoyed his cats, especially when they paid attention to him. Jim was a “jokester” like his dad. He instilled the love of good music in his children, including jazz, soul, and big band. Jim was a proud Democrat. Jim’s son, Alex, was an amazing caregiver to his dad, spending countless hours together, especially these last two years.

Memorial Information: In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Happy Tails Animal Shelter of Buffalo, Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home, 6368 E. US 24, Monticello, Indiana, 47960 .
Marriage Information: On September 1, 1973, in Logansport, Indiana, he married Lynn Dillon; she survives.
