Biographical Information: Earl was a 1942 graduate of Auburn High School in Auburn, Indiana. He had lived in the Monticello, Indiana community since 1994, coming here from the Chalmer/Brookston, Indiana area. Earl had also lived in Corunna, Auburn, Fowler, Attica, Indiana communities. He graduate form the International Business College in 1942, Kalamazoo College in 1947, and Indiana University in 1950. While attending Kalamazoo College, Earl played basketball on the men's basketball team. Earl was a United States World War II Navy Veteran. Serving as an Avation Machinist Mate 2nd Class from March 10, 1943 to April 16, 1946. He had served as an Indiana State Police Trooper for twenty-two (22) years, retiring in 1972. He had served as the White County Sheriff from 1975 to 1982, and was an investigator for the White County Prosecutors Office. Earl had also served on the White County Council from 1985 to 1994. He was a member of the Monticello Christian Church in Monticello, Indiana, American Legion Post #268 in Chalmers, Indiana, Indiana Sheriff's Association - Life Member, and Pioneer of the Indiana State Police. Earl had served as a president of the Indiana Sheriff's Association, and had worked for the association as well. He had been attendeing the Guernsey Church of The Brethren in rural Monticello, Indiana.
Special Services: Full military rites will be conducted at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello, Indiana by the Chalmers American Legion Post #268 of Chalmers, Indiana.
Memorial Information: May be given to the Indiana Sheriff Career Camp, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Marriage Information: On February 23, 1951, in Monticello, Indiana, he married Roberta Madge Ireland. She died Spetember 25, 2006.
