Biographical Information: Mary Eleanor Caughell, 94, went to meet her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020. Mary was born on July 19, 1926 to Mabel Marie Garrison Caughell and James Logan Caughell of Idaville, Indiana. She was the middle child with siblings Virginia Caughell Foerman and James Robert (Bob) Caughell. Mary graduated from Adams Township High School in rural Carroll County, then completed nurses training at Lafayette Home Hospital, and eventually earned advanced nursing degrees at Indiana University of Indianapolis, and Butler University, both of Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked in nursing for over fifty years, the majority of the time in nursing administration positions at hospitals in Indianapolis, including Winona and Community East. Mary was an extremely proud member of the nursing profession, and steered a niece, nephew, and great-niece into nursing careers. She resided in Indianapolis all of her adult life and was an active member of the East 91st St Christian Church in Indianapolis for many years. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Caughell and sister, Virginia Foerman, and is survived by three nephews, Gary (Chris) Foerman of Royal Center, Indiana, Greg (Terri) Caughell of Silver Lake, Indiana, and Doug (Debbie) Caughell of Beverly Hills, Florida, two nieces, Marsha and Celia Foerman of Arizona, and multiple great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mary cherished her family and loved being involved in their lives; she was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Special Services: Graveside Services at 11:00 a.m. On Thursday, December 10, 2020.
Memorial Information: In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the wishes of the donor, in Honor of Mary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
