Biographical Information: Donald C. "Don" Potts, Sr., 93 of Monticello (formerly of Burnettsville), passed away at 5:40 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the White Oak Health Campus of Monticello. He was born on Tuesday, October 19, 1926, in White County to the late Charles F. and Eva Marie (Denton) Potts. On August 14, 1947, in Delphi he married Clara Belle Shafer; she passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019. Don and his late wife, Clara Belle, had lived in the rural Burnettsville area for over fifty years. They had also lived in the rural Wolcott and Delphi areas. He was a United Sates World War II Navy Veteran. Don had farmed most of his life for a living. He had also worked at the old RCA Factory of Monticello until it closed. Don also worked part time for Pioneer Seed of Flora and part time at Dye Lumber Company of Monticello. He enjoyed tinkering around in the shed with his dog always be his side. Don loved his late wife, Clara Belle, and he always said that marrying her was the best and greatest decision he had ever made. As well as being a great husband, he was a great, wonderful, and loving dad, grandpa, great grandpa, and great great grandpa. Surviving are four children, Barbara “Barb” (husband Robert) Fehr of Blue Grass, Iowa, Donald C. “Don” (wife Carol) Potts, Jr. of Delphi, Jeffrey “Jeff” (wife Julia) Potts of Burnettsville, and Carolyn (husband Mark) Vanover of Morrow, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; twenty – six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brother, Walter “Bud” Potts of Monticello; sister, Doris Rogers of Remington; two brothers-in-law, Robert “Bob” (wife Janet) Shafer of Burnettsville, and Doug (wife Anne) Shafer of Logansport; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Long of Monticello, Kay (husband Steve) Wright of Zionsville, and Pat Potts of Delphi; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, cousins, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. and Eva Marie (Denton) Potts; wife, Clara Belle (Shafer) Potts; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary (husband Kenneth) Lossing, Ruth (husband Hadley) Martin, and Ruby (husband Jack) Tam; and brother, Wayne D. Potts. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the at the Miller - Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020, with Rev. Mike Fanning of the Idaville First Church of God of Idaville officiating. Burial with Full Military Rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard of Monticello will follow at the Seceder / Cedarville Cemetery in rural Burnettsville.
