Biographical Information: Ron had lived in the Buffalo area since 1963 and was a 1966 graduate of North White High School of Monon. He entered his apprenticeship with ALCOA in Lafayette and became a general mechanic. Ron worked for ALCOA of Lafayette for over thirty – five years and retired in 2002. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union #115 of Lafayette and held many offices including president. After retirement, Ron went to work for the Twin Lakes School Corporation of Monticello as a school bus driver from 2002 until 2013. Ron was an avid racer for thirty – three years. He started racing stock cars in 1967 on dirt tracks at the Henry Speedway in Oxford, the Rensselaer Raceway of Rensselaer, Broadway Speedway in Crown Point, and the Shady Hill Speedway in Medaryville. Ron ran Micro Midgets at the US 24 Speedway in Lake Cicott and raced pavement modifies at Plymouth, Baerfield, Alvilla, New Paris, South Bend, and Benton County Speedway. He was a member of the ICAR, IMCA, EMOD, IMSS, ICRC, and MMA Racing Association. Ron was grandpa the car owner for his grandson, Tyler since 2009 in the 600 Micro Sprint division at the US 24 Speedway and Circus City Speedway. Ron had also coached the Buffalo Girls Softball Team for several years in the late 1980’s and into the 1990’s. He enjoyed being a part of the Buffalo Daze Car Show and the Buffalo Christmas Light Committee. Ron enjoyed antiquing with his wife and was an avid petroleum collector. He and his wife, Diana, enjoyed the Tuesday Night Cruisers of Monticello. Ron loved supporting all four of his grandchildren in their various sporting events and activities. He and Diana have wintered in Bradenton, Florida, for the last six years. Ron truly loved his leisure time sitting on his front porch and watching the river and the boats passing by. Most of all, Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
