Biographical Information: Helen had lived in White County all her married life. She was a 1962 graduate of Knox High School of Knox and went on to attend Indiana University of Bloomington, studying music and English Literature. Helen worked as a legal secretary at the Indiana Secretary of State, and later continued her secretarial duties in Monticello. She had a love for classical music and was an accomplished pianist. Helen also enjoyed painting, decorating, and was the BEST cook. She always had a love for animals. Her love began as a child with her pet duck, Puddles. Her duck would follow her everywhere including the store and would wait outside the store when she went in. Throughout her life Helen always had a dog by her side. She enjoyed raising cattle on the family farm and enjoyed watching her children in 4-H. Some of Helen’s best traits were her wittiness, creativity, and cleverness. Helen had a passion for flowers. Her flower garden had beautiful roses, hydrangeas, and an assortment of other flowers to make the prettiest bouquets. She taught by example, showing her family kindness, compassion, and patience. Whether it be family dinners, grandchildren’s sporting events, or antiquing, times with family were her most cherished moments!!!!
