Biographical Information: Robert G. “Bob” Scroggs, 93, of Idaville, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 23, 2017, at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello, Indiana. Bob was born September 30, 1924, northeast of Idaville to the late Fred M. and Goldia (Cotner) Scroggs. He resided in Idaville all his life. Bob was a 1942 graduate of Idaville High School. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in England during WWII. On July 4, 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Jean Deardorff, in Wolcott, Indiana. The couple met at Chalmers during the County Young People’s Convention in 1940. They were married 68 years. She passed away December 7, 2013. Bob was a member of the former Eastlawn United Methodist Church and attended the Idaville First Church of God. He was also a member of the Monticello American Legion Post 81. Bob was a former two term trustee of Lincoln Township and a longtime volunteer of the Idaville Fire Department. He worked for Shafer Electric and Jonalia Furniture factory both of Idaville. In 1968, he joined the IBEW Electric Union of Lafayette, Indiana, retiring in 1989. During retirement, he volunteered at the White County Food Pantry and the White County Historical Society both located in Monticello. He also enjoyed carving wooden nameplates for his family and friends. Surviving are his daughters Nancy “Cindy” (husband Dan) Gottschalk , of Delphi, Indiana and Kathryn Scroggs of Monticello, Indiana; three grandchildren, Stephen (wife Regina) Gottschalk of Rossville, Indiana, Sarah (husband Roger) Davis of Galveston, Indiana, and Leah (husband Malachi) Jaggers of Delphi, Indiana; and two Great Grandchildren Zane and Brenna Gottschalk both of Rossville, Indiana. Also surviving are several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Nieces and Nephews, and one Great Great Great Nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred M. and Goldia (Cotner) Scroggs, his wife Loretta Jean Deardorff Scroggs, and brothers Joseph C. and James D. Scroggs. Friends may call from 3-7pm Sunday, October 29, at the Miller-Roscka funeral home in Monticello, Indiana. Funeral services will be held 10:30am Monday, October 30, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Fanning and Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating. Burial will follow at the Idaville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the White County Food Pantry or the White County Historical Society.
